“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself”.
I love those quote cards and this quote is one of my favorites. This quote is on a magnet I bought my roommate and I have several others at work, one being a card from a friend, while the others are just blank cards because I love quotes!
What do I love about quotes? I guess I never sat down and thought about it before, but I think it’s how they reflect the way I think life should be lived. Whether it’s about creating yourself, following your dreams, or doing what you love and makes you happy, they all remind you to live life to it’s fullest and that anything is possible.
I think as we get older, we lose that childhood view of how the world is big and full of opportunities. We once dreamed of being astronauts, presidents, or a pizza delivery woman in my case (guess I was setting my bar low). But as we age, most of us get fed how important stability is and how we need to pick a major in college that will give us a good job at the end. I am not going to lie, I was fed this and I even told myself the same things, which is why I felt I needed a masters in something that would result in a job with the stability I was looking for. Then as I got older and matured through my life experiences, I found that my true passion lies in fitness and nutrition and helping people achieve their goals.
Now does that mean I am going to quit my jobs and simply hope my online coaching can support me? No..that would be stupid. But that doesn’t mean I am going to settle for a job I don’t enjoy and hope 10 years down the road I can quit and do what I love. I think a lot of people start out with that intention, and 10-15 years later, they are still telling themselves they will quit when the right time comes. But most likely, the right time will never come, because there is no RIGHT time, there is only NOW.
Following your dreams is not always a path filled with sunshine and rainbows. You have to be prepared to struggle. A lot of people struggle financially and put in a lot more time than someone with a 9-5 job, but the difference is, the individuals pursuing their dreams don’t burn out because they are doing what they LOVE. And as I said before, following your dream doesn’t mean you quit jobs that are providing you with necessary income and start building your dream empire, unless you have the means to do so. But don’t feed yourself a line of BS about waiting for the RIGHT time will come. Start building now. Maybe it will take you longer because you or your family relies on your income, but eventually after a lot of hustle, you will get to where you can make the switch and expand on your dreams.
Happy Monday..get after this week and HUSTLE!
